How do you remove an ethernet cable once plugged in? It went into my mac with no problem
but now I'm having a bit of a struggle getting it out - don't want to rip the back of my
computer out!

There is a little clip on the ethernet cable which needs to be depressed, I presume you
are aware of that..

Believe it or not, I just crawled under my desk to pull my ethernet broadband connection
from the back of my Mac so I could see what it looks like... then I realised I would
disconnect if I did and be unable to answer the question. Doh! Is the ethernet connection that you have plugged in working properly? If not, sounds
like you may have jammed something in where it shouldn't go...

Don't know if it's working yet. Still waiting for my connection date which is tomorrow - I
was just plugging everything in in preparation for then. Then I decided I'd pack the modem
away until tomorrow and....tried disconnecting the bitch-ass cable. 4 fak sakes.

does the ethernet cable have a sheeth on it? A plastic coating that slides over the
release mechanism to prevent accidental release.
If it does then go right to
the back of your computer with a small screwdriver and slide the screwdriver between the
sheeth and the computer and pull away from the computer as hard as you can, the sheeth
should tear and you'll be able to get easy access to the release mechanism.

I've tried this already - the sheeth slid down the cable and I've been able to press down
the release lever and attempt to pull it out. It should come out as easily as a normal
telephone cable. Looks like its stuck - like its been superglued into the port. I'm going
to open up the back of my iMac to see if it can come out easier.

opening it would be a waste of time, the ethernet port is a sealed box.

Happened to me once, had to yank it out in the end (if you'll excuse the pun)Didn't do any
damage, but if you have the time i would take it to someone qualified.

Will do - I'll just leave it pluged in until I need to remove it then take it into a mac
shop. Despite all my yanking on that cable the ethernet connection is working fine - they
sure do make these things to take a beating! Coming atcha with 1MB over a well stretched
ethernet cable!
Thanks for all the advice...

Use a small precision (jewellers) screwdriver , flat ended, to pop the clip in all the
way, then pull gently on the cable and screwdriver at the same time.
it should
come free, slowly but smoothly is the trick.
