Presonus firebox sync issues

Hi Presonus users
I have a firebox which doesn't sync up properly with my mac
when I first switch it on. The presonus website says to go into the audio manager, switch
to a different sample rate and then change back to the correct one. This seems to sort
things out on some occasions but the best way just seems to be to pull the firewire cable
out and shove it back in again. I'm not too keen on doing this and it doesn't seem very
elegant. Does everyone else have to do this or is it just me?

I've had some issues with the FB - not by itself but when combined with other firewire
gear. The solution for me was to daisy-chain all firewire peripherals to one FW port on my
iMac 20" with the firebox first in the chain (closest to the iMac). My problem was that
every time there was reading from or writing to an external disk the firebox would go
offline. I could restore it with the audio utility you mentioned but it would lose sync
again the moment there was any disk activity. Thankfully the daisy-chaining sorted that
out, but I still have to re-establish sync with the audio utility from time to time. I
don't think it's a good idea to hotplug the interface - some very knowledgeable people on
this forum advised me NOT to do it.
If you search the forum you'll probably
find my original post. Hopes this is helpful

hooked up to a Tampa mic pre via s/pdif. It is also FW daisy-chained - iMac to Firebox to
TC Powercore Compact. It only loses sync if I switch off the Tampa (understandably). The
above remedy always sorts it out.
Hi Everyone, thanks for your help. I will try changing the way my firewire stuff is
plugged in. At the moment I have the Firebox on one bus and my hard drive on the 800mhz
bus. I will try daisy chaining them with the firebox first on the 400mhz bus.
My machine is a 2.66 iMac with 4 Meg ram running Leopard. I did have problems on my 1.8
dual G5 but they seemed to iron themselves out.
