Using two interfaces with the same machine? new

I hope it's a silly question, but over the next few months I'm looking at building up a little mobile recording rack for my iMac (probably based around a FirePod or similar), but I'd quite like to keep my M-Audio FW1814 rigged up at home so I can just switch over the Firewire cable for mixing and stuff to avoid lots of re-patching and what have you. Is it likely to cause any problems having the drivers for two interfaces from different manufacturers installed on the same machine?

no problem... I have three interfaces installed on my macs..and PCs.

MOTU, M-Audio and Echo audio. (although I dont use the M-audio one any more and haven't installed the drivers since upgrading to Leopard).

I just plug in whichever interface I want to use and select it within the software. I've never had any problems

Ditto.. Im using Motu and Apogee interfaces. Just one at a time (Although simultaneously is possible). And it's all working just great.

yes, if you setup an Aggregate device in the Audio/MIDI setup utility, then you can use all (or any mix) of your interfaces simultaneously.. if have done this on a few occasions (mostly with multiple MOTU boxes, but I have also used the Echo box with MOTU boxes.)...

I have only ever linked two interfaces myself, but I'm sure you could link more if you wanted.... the only thing you have to watch out for is the clock source... make sure there is only one master clock source and that all the other interfaces are clocked from that master.
