Well, I've read the review, read the specs, eve read the manual.
How many insert effects can be used at one time ?
1 channel, 8 channels ?
Any owners out there shed any light ?

I'm afraid I haven't used the HD16 but I have used the MRS1608 which is the previous version of the same 16track and unless they have changed it you can only use one at a time. Unless you patch it into the inserts and then it will affect all of the inputs being recorded. Hope that helps.

Thanks,
1 at a time is a less than similarly specced machines.
Keep looking I suppose.

Isn't it only 16-bit/44.1 as well?

Yes, it is, and that is it's major flaw.

However, it is a well built, solid machine. I used it to record 3 bands on Saturday night in a pub and the only place I could put the HD16 was on a table holding a PA speaker, so it had a lot of vibrations to contend with. However, the HD16 didn't even blink. It ran for 4 hours in a hot, crowded, smokey, and vibration filled environment and held up beautifully.

It's pretty easy to use, has perfectly usable preamps, hi - z instrument inputs, a large meterbridge, the ability to use external effects and it records in wav and transfers easily to a pc with the built in usb connection.

I've never mixed on it as I'm too addicted to Sonar and various plug ins, but as a cheap portable recorder it does the job.

I wouldn't write it off just because it only does 16/44.1, although I would love to be able to record in 24 bit....

It has a friendly and helpful forum at
