Will two Monitors give twice the 'real estate', or just one monitor magnified? new
      #64574 - 19/12/04 01:56 AM
Hi,

I'm thinking of buying two monitors for my Apple G4 (DP Silver Door). Will these give twice the pixel "real estate", or just what only one monitor would give, only bigger?

That is - if each monitor is 1280x1024, will two monitors give 2X(1280X1024)?

Thanks,
Kevin Nolan

It depends on the monitor you buy. I just bought an Apple studio display - 15 inch. It's maximum res is 1024 X 768 and OS X gives me total control over which screen is the daddy and what the res of each screen is too.

I wanted it expressly for using plug-ins and editing patches.

It's a bit [ ****** ] with the different res, I operate my main monitor at 1280 X 1024, so everything is bigger on the Apple, which is actually good for plugs, and it looks sexy, works sexy, and only cost £70 from ebay!!!

Pigs 'n' [ ****** ] spring to mind.

I hate to nit-pick, but it won't. It'll give you (1280 x 2) x 1024.

Now 4 monitors, on the other hand...
