Cant Stop Hurting Myself
      #674056 - 02/11/08 12:12 AM
So I was looking for a tune to cover (recording practice) and I came across an old Greg Kihn album. I said, hot damn. So I did a cover of "Cant Stop Hurting Myself". Maybe you old guys will remember this one. The album "Rock-Kihn-Roll", had "The Breakup Song" on it also (his most popular song). But this was my favorite off the album. I used alot of reverb and vocal doubling on this one to get that 1979 feel. As usual Im playing everything and tryin to sing. Enjoy.

Fixed the drums (best I could) Reduced the delay and spread on the main vocal also. Drums sound better now (still not in perfect time though). Im getting too old. Also I reduced the main mix compression. I had a tad too much. I had a gospel band come out and lay down some tracks, so I'll be busy mixing them next week. Nice change of pace from my normal week. All original material and they sound pretty good. Bluegrass gospel at that. Im excited to get crackin on it.

You need to fix your timing.

]But I guess you already knew that.

Shame as the potential is there but the timing just killed the whole thing for me.

Programmed drums do have the advantage of being spot on unless you deliberately program them otherwise - unfortunately that shows up any sloppiness in the rest of the playing real easy.

Would be nice if you could find some local music buddies to play for you as well as just you, yourself and you!

You sing fine by the way.

Get your timing chops together and you`ll be pretty dern close to dangerous.
