TR-606 recording problem new
      #741056 - 05/06/09 08:52 PM
Here is the small problem i have.

I set down a basic lo-tom rhythm on steps 1,5,9,13 and 16 and record the 606 via din-sync from my PC using a kenton pro 2K. The Toms are recorded seperately on track 1 in my DAW (samplitude)

Track 2 is the bass drum from the 606, now this is where the problem starts, although it will be recorded in sync, it does not record in sync at all, it sounds like it is lagging when it is not.

I'm just wondering if it's something to do with trying to layer the kick on top of the lo-tom that makes it sound like it is out of sync.

Having repeated this with the lo-tom and kick playing together on one track there is no lag during recording, it only happens when trying to record them seperately on a track each?

The Kenton's clock divider is set properly as well.

Any info greatly appreciated.

are you recording/playing them in your daw? In a separate mixer channel? Maybe one of the mixer channels has some delay on it? Or a plugin thats causing some delay? HAve you made sure there's no unwanted silence at the beginning of the wav?

You could always just us the kick and tom and lay them down in a pattern sequencer or in something like battery?

I've got a 606 too and never had a prob like this. Lovely machine aint it? I managed to get a little box that syncs my 606 and 303 up to midi clock. Tis awesome!

What are you monitoring? If you are monitoring the DAW output, you will get a small delay. If you are monitoring the input, you shouldn't.

Don't know samplitude but I'd bet that its a monitoring issue.
