AW2816 Live
      #758739 - 31/07/09 12:01 PM
I want to use my AW2816 as a live mixer, but not sure what power amp to use???

3 piece band, 5 keyboards (inc workstation), guitar, 2 mics.
Was using behringer PMH1000 driving 2 carlsbro AT15 live. However have started changing set-up to allow us to record, so purchased AW2816 (great). Want to get rid of the behringer and replace with a power amp. Have about £300 to spend. Would like more power than behringer (250W @ 8Ohms), as would like to upgrade speakers in future.

have been looking at Carlsbro 2000 £360, Behringer EP4000 £289, Tapco Juice.

Any Idea's comments.

Hi

Second hand you could probably pick up something reasonable for that money. If you wanted new then how about

http://www.thomann.de/gb/t-amp_ta2400.htm

Not tried one myself, but I know someone who has used a Thomann amp and seems to like it.

A potential downside, you may need to use track cue to mix the live sound, to avoid recording your live fader settings.

Otherwise this could cause problems when you try and mix the sounds in your studio (live sound likely to be drastically different to what you'd want on a CD).
