what price a bose pa system? new
      #772970 - 24/09/09 08:29 AM
i'm thinking about selling on some of the gear i don't use any more. i'd be grateful if anyone could give me a ballpark figure for the following system;

4 x bose mkII 802 speakers
1 x bose controller
1 x 1200 watt crown amp
1 x phonic stereo graphic

the amp, controller and graphics are wired in a small skb rack

all in working order and fair cosmetic condition.

many thanks for any advice

brian

My approach to these type of issues - and I'm buying and selling far too often - is to look at the current or latest price using the net and EBay and then to use SoS Readers' Ads and EBAY to see some typical used prices.

Then, assuming I'm going for EBay, I pitch the starting price slightly low to attract potential bidders and then wait and see what happens.

The market finds its own level - don't pitch your expectations too high - people will just ignore you.

Thanks for the reply,

I have absolutely NO idea what this is worth as i inherited the system.

Have actually done some hunting around in manner described -having not seen anything comparable, this was my next step in the hunt for an answer. Maybe something will come up on eBay, but in the meantime, if anyone has any idea here, I'd be most grateful.

Hmmm; there are usually quite a few 802s knocking around on EBay - in varying conditions, but you should get some idea of yours compared to those.

Is the Phonic a 31-band or a 15-band? In reality you won't get much more for it than, say, a Behringer - if it's a 31-band say £40-£60 assuming the condition's OK. (I've just bought a 31-band mono Phonic for £30 on EBay - and that was a trade sale which I got for the starting price.)

As for the Crown Amp - if you can't find the same model see if you can find something similar in terms of power-rating and quality.

If all else fails, see what the big internet retailers are asking for new ones or equivalents thereof (for all of the items) and then half it. A bit crude, but a useful rule of thumb I find.
