The Aurora 16 looks tasty as hell, but does anyone know any info about it, apart from the blurb on the lynx website?

It looks like the quantum leap up from the Behringer ADA8000 I've been waiting for!!

Ta,
Al

Hey Alex...

I have been considering (drooling over? ) the Aurora-16 myself ever since they were announced at AES.

They are quite pricey (US$3,000 retail), and I would also need to get a AES-16 card to go with it (another US$700). I understand that they are starting to ship this month, but I am still waiting on confirmation on that.

At this point, I am starting to get cold feet due to the price, but from what I hear from those who have been testing them, they are REALLY awesome.

From what I understand, they are nicely in the league of apogee converters, of which 16 channeles of AD & DA would cost about £6K!!

I am currently undergoing full upgrades of all my gear so that the main core elements of my setup should never really need to be upgraded again (within reason). I hope this should solve all my converter needs for the next good few years.

Think yourselves lucky your clients don't express a preference for dCS converters!

OT - isn't the Aurora the cruise ship from hell that everybody just had to sit in the harbour on whilst having Jimmy Tarbuck and Paul Daniels inflicted on them till they finally agree to leave, thus allowing the ship to continue with its sacred mission, to boldly not go where no ship had boldly not gone before?

Lynx should maybe rename their product (which looks rather tasty)...

If you are looking in the $6k region then consider a set of stand alone mic amps with something like a set of Mytek convertors. How about the Audient rack mount mic amps?

Cheers.

James.

Nah, I mean the aurora looks like the best option without splashing out 6k
