Emu Proteus 2000 OS upgrade !!please help!!
      #781414 - 23/10/09 01:14 PM
Hey everyone,ok heres the problem my P2k has been acting strangley lately so I figured it was due to an older OS, so I have the latest from the EMU site all hooked up to the E-loader via Midisport 2x2 using Windows Vista.
Sysex ID are both at 126 and the download window is grey'd out with "Status : waiting for download request" I've gone through forums and google'd like crazy but no help. The manual basically says"to recieve just hit play on sequencer"
Please help anybody this is killing me lol

ok, I haven't got eloader in front of me, but.....

I think there's a setup page in the drop down menus to choose which midi ports you're P2K is connected to (if you've got a MS2x2, best to check you've got the correct ones?) E Loader has to be able to see which machine it is connected to (P2K, MP7, Xlead, etc) by 2 way communication.

Also, with it being a 2x2, make sure you've got the 'thru/USB' switch in the correct position (USB) so the computer can communicate both ways with the P2K (PS, you have got a midi in AND out connected to the P2K, right?)

You have to choose the OS you want to download to the P2K before the 'download' box will appear properly, I think?

My biggest concern for you is that ELoader was never written for Vista, and I don't think they updated it. Have you used it before trouble free? I've always used it on XP, so I can't speak from experience but it may not actually run properly.

Hope something there helps, I'll check in further detail when I get home tonight to see if I can come up with anything else

good luck

Thank you for the reply!
everything is wired up fine (both in and out) the "donload OS" button just stays grey'd out saying its waiting for a request thats where I'm stuffed I've tried googling to see if this will work with vista but I've literally found nothing. And the EMU only has "send midi sysex" and the only thing it has on recieve is the option to turn it off or on

ah, I've just checked the eloads operation manual and it reminded me about this:

you have to switch on the P2K holding down the Audition and Enter buttons,

that way, it enters into the state where it's expecting an OS download and sends that message to eloader (the request it is waiting to receive)

hope this works

Okay I am in the middle of doing the upgrade also to my proteus 1000 and the download appears to have stopped

the OS downlaoder screen has file selected
the target device is selected as port a of my midi interface
the downlaod
where it says Download os file to target is not highlighted
and status says :waiting for download request

the proteus which was rebooted holding audition and enter when powered up just says "searching for OS"

I need help here
