"Robotic" noise from behringer xenyx 1622 mixer when click on the R on logic

Hi all,
I bought this audio mixer like 6 months ago, I musing Logic express and
when I click on the little "R" on the track between the I and the M, I got this strange
noise coming up. it doesn't happen all the time but when it does, its annoying. Its like a
Robotic sound, I can't describe it but its a pain. I wanted to know if some of you have
the same noise and what did you do?
Im guessing it should be something going
wrong inside it, but I don't really want spend money on shipping if I have to send it to
behringer .....
And another stupid question: When I want to record my voice
(when I dont have the robotic noise), where do I need to plug my headphone? I know it
sounds stupid, but I actually plugged it on the thingy that its meant to ( im not at home
so i forgot wats written on the mixer), but I dont have any sound coming out. Even when I
unplug my speakers (yamaha hs50) it doesnt work.... I m sure I just need to plug it
somwhere else.....:)
thanks

Possibly a feedback loop going on? Not familiar with Logic, but when you click the R,
then that will arm the track, and you could well have some monitoring set up when that
happens - which then goes to the outputs on your audio interface/sound card - which if
they're plugged into you mixer, and if your mixer is plugged into the inputs of your audio
interface... feedback loop time.
We probably need a bit more info on what
you've got plugged into what.
Hands up, I've got a little Xenyx micer. It's
got a pair of phono CD/Tape inputs. I use those as the feed in from my audio interface to
drive my control/monitors. Then you can use the "Send CD/Tape to Control" - thus not
sending what's already coming out of your AI back into it again. Beware with the "Send
CD/Tape to Mix" otherwise you are heading for feedback that way.
Re:
headphones. Suspect this will be tied in with how you've got it all plugged in, so tell
us that and might be able to help a bit more.

Maybe a feedback... with the robotic noise theres also some echo....
So the way
i plugged it: the output of sound card are connected to the input of cd/tape of the mixer.
then the input of soundcard are connected to the sub output of the mixer ( i can also plug
them on the chanels inserts on the mixer) and my speakers (yamaha hs50) are connected to
the L and R of the main out.
For the headphones, I plugged it in Phones on the
mixer but doesnt work...( i only hear white noise ) but I just tried to plug it on the
main out and it works but the problem is, as theres L and R on the main out, i only hear
from one side, cos i can only plug my headphone on one thingy.

Sounds similar to what I've had when I was first getting to grips with
mine...

Makes
sense.

Horses for courses, but I've got mine round the otherway. Main outs from the mixer to
the inputs of the sound card. Monitors/speakers taken from the control room outs - since
on my (simpler) xenyx that's got a volume control for control room. But I see on the 1622
there's one for the sub outs.
I think it'll be about the what you route to
where with the buttons on the mixer. And/or whether you're already monitoring in Logic
when you hit the Record/Arm R button.

That doesn't sound so good.... There should be a
circuit diagram in the manual that will tell you what output the 'phones are connected to
and/or if there's a way to switch the output to them.

As Mr. Moose above has explained the ‘robotic noise’ is probably feedback, especially
if it has an echo trail. This is happening because you are sending the output from the
mixer into your DAW, then sending the same signal back from your DAW into the mixer –
feedback. Undoubtedly this is only happening when you go into a record state, since input
monitoring is being turned on at that time. It will be variably better or worse because
the amount of feedback will be dependent on how you have your levels set.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how to connect and route things:
Switch off
all sub-group routings on all channels. Switch all channels to route to Main Mix only.
Connect the mixer’s subgroup outputs to your soundcard’s inputs.
Connect your soundcard’s outputs to a stereo channel on the mixer. It is important
never to route this channel to a sub-group or the feedback will return.
Plug
your headphones into the headphone out. Plugging into the Main L/R is a non-starter –
abandon this!
Connect your speakers to the ‘Control Room’ output - NOT
the Main L/R! Now your main speakers and headphones will (correctly) be giving you the
same signal.
Select Main Mix for the Control Room output. You should now be
able to hear all channels from both speakers and headphones.
To record a
signal you now choose which inputs go to the soundcard by using the sub-group switches.
Switch only those channels you want to record to the appropriate sub-group(s).

Ah, the joy to have the next level up mixer to be able to select which channels to send to
sub-groups... I'm stuck with the retro "use the channel level knob" to pick which channel
to record And similarly, to even have enough channels for the soundcard return without
resorting to the tape in... What Mr Elf says is spot on - although on these
mixers, I think it's also possible that taking the soundcard-out to the TapeIn will allow
that to be switched to Control Room or Main Mix - thus making it impossible to send that
back to the Sub-outs hence avoiding the feedback?
