Audio Interface / Pre-amp for Logic?? new
      #814370 - 24/02/10 09:41 AM
Hi all,

I'm considering an Imac, with Logic 9 as my DAW - but am wondering if anyone can recommend any audio interfaces that work? I have a Tascam UL-144 usb interface - does anyone know if this would work with Logic? Am considering usb one as I'm on a bit of a budget. Would one of the usb mixers work with Logic or do they only work with the software they are bundled with?
I will be mainly recording guitars, bass, vocals and using a midi controller (or something similar) for drums/synths - so I guess I'd need at least 2 XLR inputs / 2 TRS at least. (I think!)

In real newbies terms I just want to ask - I can use Logic with a usb audio interface can't I?

What do other people who use Logic use?
And based on the type of recording I'm going to be doing - would Logic Express 9 suffice or would Logic Studio 9 (this is the full version right??)
Sorry for all the questions that might seem pretty obvious!
Thanks in advance,

Adrian

Normally, yes. If your chosen interface has a driver for MacOS 10 then you're home and dry. USB should handle your requirement fine. Have a shufty through the reviews in SoS to help you choose a good one, or search the forums because this sort of question has been asked and answered bafore.

I would have thought Logic Express would do you fine and save you quite a bit of cash, though as I have Logic Pro I can't be absolutely certain of that (I live with a student, which means I was able to buy it at a huge discount).

Best of luck,

Chris
