CD-quality downloads for refernce material

Does anyone know where I'm able to download uncompressed 16-bit 44.1kHz WAV versions of
commercial tracks on a pay-per-track basis, as you would with iTunes? (Last time I checked
iTunes, you still had to get the compressed version.)
I want to purchase tracks
to use on a reference CD. Nowhere seems to sell CD singles any more, and it seems a waste
to buy a whole album just for a single track.
Any recommendations
appreciated...

I think http://boomkat.com/ offer flac
- and that's the nearest you're going to get to uncompressed. Otherwise I don't know of
anyone, except maybe artists' own sites (and I still don't know of any) that offer CD
quality as downloads;data transfer rates simply aren't fast enough to justify it, the
market for it would be tiny.

Thanks all. Quote tomafd:

Not sure
about that! It takes no time at all to download a 16/44 pop song at 3 - 3.5 minutes. For
an album, maybe...

Apple need to add Apple Lossless to the iTunes store ASAP. The download speed
argument doesn't make much sense, given that people are happily downloading feature films
and streaming TV series. Audio is trivial by comparison.

Beatport offer an option to get uncompressed .wav files. Costs more, and the downloads are
much bigger ... but you would expect that, wouldn't you ?

Linn now offer 24 bit downloads (called Studio Master Downloads), but of niche stuff;
seems to be mainly orchestral or jazz, although there is a William Orbit album on there.
