CD Walkmans Headphone amps

I have a Sony Walkman which has a good sound quality, but is on its last feet.

Is there any major differences between the headphone amps used in the CD Walkmans these days,or would a 20quid job be the same as any other?

I don't know about the current market, but there is a definite difference in definition between my old Panasonic CD Walkman and a cheaper Mercury branded equivalent.
