JX-8p - JX10.... quick question
      #841114 - 19/06/10 11:28 PM
Hi everyone.

Does anyone know if i can take an M16c cartridge full of 8p sounds, put it into a JX10 and all will work perfectly - sound the same, behave the same etc???

Thanks....

Yes, it should work fine in patch ( single, not dual mode),& sound identical, (& no splits or layer, only the JX10 does splits or layers, the JX10 is essentially 2 JX8ps)
You can have double the number of voices in the JX10 (12 voices) with the same patch layered twice,( upper & lower), so that could make it sound richer, especially if you detuned the different levels ( layers).
But if you want, you can obviously just turn down the level of one side of the split/layer & have a 6 voice JX10, which should sound identical to its JX8p original tone. Some JX 8P & JX10 users claim that there is a difference in sound between the two synths, but I dont find that to be the case.

You'll need to make sure you set up the performance parameters (pitch bend, etc.), which were global on the 8P, but per patch on the 10, but yes, the patch data should port over. It's a long time since I did it, but it worked for me.

The chorus is a little quieter on the 10, but the 8P and 10 sound otherwise identical.

Thanks for this guys. I gig with an 8p in my rig for that analog touch.
Want to swap for a JX10 for the bi-timbrality..
