Keyboards like microkorg

Hey guys I was wondering what options there are for small very versatile
keyboards with built in effects. I'm not fussed on a microkorg as every band has one now
and they're borig to see on stage now! Currently we use a juno-60 and an sh-09
on stage. While these have a certain wow factor (mostly the sh-09 as it's rarer) they
arent the most versatile, and it's a nightmare having to keep changing parameters in
between songs, it slows the gig down. Thanks!

Forgive me a smile or two, but I never thought I'd see the day when two old keyboard
friends of mine (Juno 6 and SH-09) would produce the wow-factor!
It obviously depends on what sort of sounds you need to have access to, but I
like to have a Kurzweil K2000 to hand for live shows. It fits under an arm (just) and has
about everything I need, from reasonable analogue synth emulations to traditional S+S
patches and user samples. So far I haven't found anything more suited. That could just
about replace both of your synths above.
But...
If you want
something of that tiny footprint then my suggestion would be a small controller keyboard
and a laptop.

Yeah i think the Juno gets it in the indie scene just because it's old and its a classic.
Lots of bands have them though. The Sh-09 gets it because it is so rarely seen
and it just sounds bloody amazing. And when i tell them i only got it for 20 quid 2 years
ago, they are always even more astonished! The kurzweii look sfar too digital
for me. Its all buttons and no sliders. Doesn't seem very easily programmable for quick
live adjustments like filter and amp settings etc. We use an AKAI mpk49 at the
moment hooked up to ableton yeah, but that's just one keyboard. I guess we could get two
more midi keyboards, but that seems really boring to me!

how about the novation k-station? Has anybody used one of these? I know it's
not amazing and nothing ground breaking. I owned an a-station, own a supernova 2, and have
used v-station a bit, and it's somewhere around all of these i guess? I know my way around
v-station and i have heard it's very similar? Nice sync sounds and good chorus
effec and tight envelopes?

I think we're going to save and just get a virus indigo. I own a C already and i love
it. Too many of the smaller keyboard have no way of realy controlling anything.
A few buttons. In the mid-late 80's they got rid of all the sliders and nobs and replaced
them with crap touch buttons. Sytnths then seemed to get the contorl back, and
now, again, so many are getting rid of control again just to have smaller sizes. The
microkorg doesnt look very tweakable. the k-station does. But not half as much as the
indigo series. Id go for the TI polar but it's too expensive!

Yeah the gaia is looking like a possible option. Although i own a JP8080 already and this
isnt a load different, just with a few new effects. I could probabaly get a second hand
virus c indigo keybaord for aroud the same amount and the possibilities for sound are way
greater. Although the d-beam would be cool on stage!

Oops i just rated this thread 1 by mistake
On closer inspection it's a little
more than a JP as it has three parts now, whereas the jp has two. But the JP had a vocoder
which this doesnt seem to have, nor can i see the unison mode on it!? and only one set of
outs like the JP. bad!
In fact the JP has two oscs per patch, which this
doesn't. Therefor this has LESS osc's than the JP had 10 years ago!
I'm sure
they could have added more on this.... Seems almost a step backwards apart from the FX
Still, bet it's fun

(I tend to see a rating of 1 as a step up from no rating at all, like a Michelin star. But
I've upped it to make you feel better.)

K-Station is an A-Station with a keyboard lobbed on to it, very easy to use but I hate
it's sound
Now the good gear and the ish you don't see every tom, dick and
harry play on stage
Waldorf Micro Q keyboard...lush lush lush, I own both a
uQ and Blofeld (non keyboard versions) have played the uQ keboard and it's lovely..appart
from the great sound the after touch and feel is fantastic. Sound wise it's more natural
and warm compared to the Blofeld.
Nord Micro Modular G1 keyboard....Man I'm
telling you this one is HOT! I'll take any of these two over ANY Access product ANY
day
To add to your mono synth list also is the Novation Bass Station
keyboard...7 storage presets, analogue/DCO hybrid and really nice sounding synth that is
great fun to play, keyboard doesn't have the greatest action imo but then again it's a
£150 (or less) mono synth...can you really complain at that price?
