MIDI control change parameters

In my sequencer MIDI environment. Digital Performer 7.2, there are several control change parameters.

1. Modulation.
2. Breath
5. Porta Time
6. Data
11. Expression


I am currently teaching myself how to use VSL VIs; what do they mean for VIs ?

Well - they're just names given to parameters but these names are from a standard which most devices follow....

1. Modulation wheel on a keyboard controller
2. Breath controller
3. generally a controller for synths for portamento time . Often a controller on "analogue modelling" synths....
4. Data - lot's of these ....!!
11. Expression pedal

There are a great deal more controllers than this though - not too familiar with DP but in PT or Nuendo you activate the other MIDI controllers before you see them in the edit panes.

How you map these to your VI (or how they are already mapped in the VI) is the key. Each plugin is different - read the manual to find out how to...
