I have 11 audio devices (1 keyboard, 7 sound modules, PC audio and dual effects) going into 2 x 12 channel mixers (Mackie 1202 VLZ and Soundcraft Notepad 124)
The total number of stereo line inputs for both mixers is 8 and I am using them all without a problem (I think). I am left with the 'mic inputs' to use for the remaining devices, which according to the Mackie manual at least can be used in pairs for line level devices.
The trouble is that I end up with an audio 'gain'? effect that I first experienced as a child with tape recorders and to this day do not know what it is called or how to deal with it.
Basically, whatever gain or volume settings I choose (on these 'mic channels'), I get a build-up in volume during quiet sections with any loud-bang, bass drum, letter 'b' spoken, etc brings the whole volume down to whisper level for it to slowly rise again. It is a sort of boom effect with the speakers seeming 'deaf' while the volume recovers.
I hope my explanation is enough for the experts out there to help questioning me further to help explain where I am going wrong or what I need to sort the issue out.
Thanks,
Threaded
