zfx and zoom s2t with sonar 7
      #867356 - 11/10/10 11:20 AM
Can anyone point me to a 'how to' forum or tutorial on recording real guitar on sonar 7 using the zoom s2t interface system. I have recorded guitar in the past (can't remember how to do it) but the zfx effects wern't recorded. Can't figure how to patch zfx into sonar to use my preset sounds. It's like to do some serious recording.

on the track in sonar right-click in fx bin, the zfx should appear as an fx option, load it, make sure you have the input monitoring button on (looks like )))) next to the M S R buttons) then you should be able to hear the fx. you'll need low-latency setting otherwise there'll be a delay...

i assume you have installed zfx as per the instructions? often by default vsts install to program files>cubase>vst, if so you need to include this folder (or wherever it's at!) in the sonar vst scan path. you get to the vst manager from options>global (i think from memory) in sonar, then you can add folders to scan. assuming the zfx is installed correctly, adding its containing folder and then scanning should show up the fx...then follow the previous post.

I finally got this to work.. also discovered you can't use zfx on midi files.. only wav files.

you can only use audio fx on audio tracks, true, but if you have a midi track it must be pointed at an audio track somehow to produce sound...you can add the zfx on this audio track (prob a softsynth..)
