Running 2 Audio Interfaces

Hello all. When I went from all hardware synths to softsynths I sold my Firewire 1814 and
ADA 8000. I purchased an M-Audio Ozone which actually works quite well. I have a need to
record some guitar tracks and I have an Audiophile 2496 I'd like to run and keep the Ozone
for it's midi capabilities. Is this possible? The A/D converters in the Ozone would
probably work alright, but I assume the Audiophile's converters are better.

This is up to the M-Audio interface drivers - if they support both interfaces then
you’ll be able to amalgamate your two to perform as a single larger interface, although
you’ll have to sync their clocks together by making one use its internal clock and
connecting its S/PDIF output to the other’s S/PDIF input and set this to external
clock. If not then the freeware ASIOforALL drivers should let you run both
interfaces side by side, although this isn’t strictly speaking the ideal solution. Hope this helps! Martin

Thanks for the reply Martin. I actually only want to use the Audiophile for audio and the
Ozone for midi. The Ozone doesn't have spdif. Sounds like I'll have to come up with
another solution. Thanks again.

Sorry - I didn’t read your message closely enough Running one interface on audio and another on MIDI is perfectly possible - it’s only
when you want a sequencer application to access multiple low latency ASIO audio drivers
that you can run into problems and need S/PDIF for syncing the audio of both interfaces
together. Using one for audio and the other for MIDI will be fine Martin

Thanks for the clarification Martin. I'll give it a go and see how it does.

Thanks for the well wishes. It must have worked. I installed the Audiophile, and it and
the Ozone are working great together. Using the Audiophile for audio and the Ozone as a
midi controller. Both control panels come up under one M-Audio icon in the task bar.
