Hi, I recently upgraded to a Nord piano88 which I believe has a fantastic sound -
when played through headphones ! I am struggling to get the same sound quality/feel
when playing from speakers. I dont mean in terms of bass/treble or general sound
reproduction - its the ambience you get from headphones which seems to be missing and
lowering the whole impression. I am using Tapco S5 monitors for home practice and
have tried various other speaker configurations with same result, including adding a
Mackie SRM150 monitor to try and spread the sound round the room. Can anyone suggest
what would be their ideal amp/speaker set up to get the best from a 'hifi' keyboard ? I
stress this is not to play at loud volumes, just for home rehearsal and to get the best
out of the sound available. Many thanks

Oddly enough I had a similar experience with pianos from my Yamaha Motif ES6, sounds
fantastic through headphones but just doesn't cut it at all in my live set-up. The Motif
is 1st class at all other tasks I set it but the pianos just don't work (at least for me)
at gigs. Had to resort to my trusty Yamaha P-50m for live piano duties and all is now well
again.
