I'm still confused as to why they disabled the 'Mix' control on Reverence in the 5.5.1
release. I wouldn't mind that back when using it as an insert on a group channel.

These threads make me feel that I might be a little behind the times with my 4.5.2 build
from September 2008. . . However, on reading the PDF: TRIM!

Much as I was very happy with SX3 in it's day, if I now had to work without Control Room
I'd probably snarl at kids and kick dogs. This way is better for everyone!

SX 3 was fine and I've only upgraded to 5 in the last month. It's not hugely different,
but as Elf says there's a few additions that are a notable improvement.

I think this is an opportune time to start the zukecubase5.5.2fund. The
Euphonics fund was a huge success drawing in a massive 78 pence which went towards a steak
and kidney BP pie.

I'm still on SX3 as well - it is quite snappy, doesn't hog too many resources, and am
debating with myself as to whether to upgrade to 5, but my experience with so much
software is that it reaches a performance vs features equilibrium - ie, is it better to
stay with an earlier release that is reliable and responsive or upgrade and lose some
responsive for the sake of a few plug ins - the pitch corrector would be useful though,
why don't Steinberg sell it as a VST for older versions, I suppose it might not run on the
older code?

There's a heck of a lot more than a few plug-ins difference between SX3 and 5! In addition
to Control Room and Vari-Audio, the ultra-flexible 'send it anywhere' routing and
side-chaining would be worth the upgrade cost to me!

Sure.
- Sell your Pro24 on ebay - Sell your Atari ST on ebay - Use the money
to discount your copy of the full version of Cubase

I gave my ST and hi-res monitor away over ten years ago I think, well lent them out and
never collected them back. >

Lots of optimisation for multi-core CPUs was a big factor for me in upgrading.
