Hello. After years and years I'm finally in a position to upgrade from MacBook Pro to a
Mac Pro to run Logic. (It is Logic9 and the latest version!) I'm really really hoping
that 1 computer can actually really now allow me to go 'all in the box', considering my
love of using many and various large scale Virtual Instruments together - i.e Ivory,
Trillian, Superior Drummer2 etc I was a little terrified when looking back over the
recent post in this forum 'Logic 9.1.2 Out' and the huge amount of reply issues,
complications and workaround suggestions leaving me a little head-scratched. There
were mentions in the replies to the post of particular machines being 'potentially'
compromised by the latest software versions and discussions on issues of 'hyper-threading'
and other matters that I don't fully understand as yet.
Its kinda left me
unsure as to whether to get the base and cheapest model available - 2.8GHz Quad Core
(which surely has to be a large leap from a 2008 model MacBook Pro?) or whether its worth
paying extra for the next 8-Core model as its such a large purchase anyway. I guess I
don't know for my application what would be best taking into account the current software
situation and the technical issues discussed.
In anybody may be prepared to
advise I would be very very grateful as I don't want to regret anything in relation to
such a large potential purchase!
