Hope the sun is out where you are.
I wasn’t able to post in the microphone forum for some reason, feel free to move this Mods!
Recently I purchased a second, perhaps 3rd/4th/5th? hand Rode NTV. Now, although my mic collection won’t intimidate most I’ve managed to get some good recordings with my modest set up. Or so I thought. The NTV is the first mic that I’ve owned that I do not consider to be ‘budget’, even though it’s fixed cardioid and no low cut.
It’s totally blown me away! Really, this mic has so much depth, space and a…bigness?? The mic that previously managed to capture my best vocal was a 414 ULS. The NTV stomps all over it. I replaced the stock tube with a NOS Mullard ECC81 and it’s just incredible.
Now I know there’s better mics out there, and I hope to one day use them, but it just seems to work for me.
Its experiences like this that keep me hooked.
Just wanted to share this with you.
I rarely hear this mic mentioned anywhere at all; does anyone have any thoughts on the NTV?
p.s. I’m not a second-hand mic dealer!!!
