"SOS is testing Bit Torrent sites for piracy."
      #895926 - 21/02/11 04:20 AM
I have this as a watermark in my March 2011 PDF Edition (eg page 57):

"edition). SOS is testing Bit Torrent sites for piracy. This Download service may be removed altogether soon. Ema"

Is that OK or something that slipped inadvertently to the PDF?

Cheers.

Well, I'd wanted something more audiophiliac but I couldn't help it after noticing it. Perhaps SOS is 'silently' tracking which users are sharing the PDF in torrent sites, but that was a bit blatant.

Cheers.

Hi pbk,

No, it wasn't your eyes deceiving you!

What you refer to is a watermark only present in the US digital editions of the magazine once a subscriber has downloaded a page or pages to PDF on their computer. As the watermark is very faintly ghosted onto pages in an unobtrusive manner, we don't feel it interferes with the reading enjoyment of the digital editions. We introduced the watermark as part of an ongoing trial we're doing to monitor and control piracy of our content... so it helps us to protect our product — of which we are very proud.

Yeah, it's OK and it doesn't bother me at all. I was just indicating that in case it was a mistake from the PDF generator.

Cheers!
