I have been trying to find reviews on these systems but there isn't a lot on the internet.
Is there anyone who has used these systems either the MEI 100 or 1000? My questions
are whether they are any good, specifically regarding the frequency response (i tried one
from DB technologies and it was terrible) and also whether there is a great difference
between the two models. Thanks.

I don't know this system, but can you expand a bit on what was "terrible" about DB's
frequency response, and what model you auditioned, so we can maybe help a bit better?
IEM systems which for instance give a full bass response tend to have more than
one driver and, basically, cost a lot. You get what you pay for. Although you can always
upgrade headphones...

I tried the DB Technologies IEM 600. The problem was that when playing a backing track
(which i used for testing) the bass drum and snares were really loud and the guitar was
really quiet. This implies to me that it's frequency response was not adequate enough.

I use the mei100 with Shure SCL2 earphones. For me the combination does fine for live use
(though it requires a decent technique when putting the earpieces in for good isolation).
IMO the sound that comes through is pretty good for live use. Not hi-fi - better
ear-pieces may be an improvement in that direction, but cannot comment as to whether you'd
hit a basic limitation in the mei100 itself, or by a limitation in the radio band used.

Having used a plethora of IEM systems over the years (Garwood, Sennheiser, Trantec), the
radio tx/rx side of things is much of a muchness. How the sound gets to your ears is the
important thing. A bit like guitars and guitar amps. Does a Strat sound good when played
through an AC30 or Marshall stack, compared to a £30 amp from Tandy?
The thing
that makes the difference is the earpieces, which are a matter of personal preference. I've used Shure E1's, EC2's and custom moulded earpieces. They all have their good and
bad points (the *expensive* custom ones were awful compared to the Shures, for
instance).
The earpieces bundled in with IEM systems are mostly a joke; cheap
on-ear (not in-ear) walkman things. You are best off investing in a decent set of
earpieces once you have settled on your radio system. Don't use the bundled in
earpieces.
A very good starter set is The Plug from Koss. There was a time when
you could get these for £5 a set, although they are closer to £10 on Amazon now. I keep
a pair as spares should my primary stage set fail during a gig. I also use a pair for
listening to MP3s on the tube, as their ambient noise reduction is very good.
Also, if you can afford it, try to get an EQ put in the signal chain to your IEM system.
If there are any offending frequencies you can always dial them out.

Hello, The MEI100 system has not a flat freq response!! It boost 10 kHz 10
dB. This is not on the technical info of the product. The MEI1000 has a flat
response, you can see my measurement results on http://hansommen.nl
