Posting error message and erased text?

I've noticed lately that when I submit my post it will often open a window that says all
the fields haven't been filled in (but they have), and asks me to hit the back button on
my browser. When I do that, all my typed text is gone.
It happens mainly when I
preview the text, but has also happened when I don't.
Anyone else having this
problem?
Windows XP here, and FF 5.0.
Thanks -

Hi alexis, Can I clarify where this is happening? On the forums (i.e. Support
Forum) or the support ticket form (or somewhere
else entirely)? Thanks, JJ

Hi JJ -
First of all, apologies for a double post.
When I went to check for responses to this one a few days ago I couldn't find it, thought
it had been "lost", and so retyped and resubmitted it. The duplicate post is here if you'd like to delete
it. Apologies again ...
To answer your question - it is happening on the regular forum, on the "Newbies", and on
this subforum at least (I can't remember if I've posted on any others recently).
Thanks for looking into this!

No problems for me. Check your client side environment first - you'll need to start with
what platform and web browser you are using, and whether you still get the same problem
with other web browsers, or give a reproducible set of steps to follow to demonstrate the
problem if it happens on multiple browsers. Does it happen in less recent versions of FF
(ie 3 or 4?)
I've never had a problem submitting posts under normal
circumstances. Also check you don't have some software or virus running that is messing
with your internet browser.
Does it only happen on your computer, or
different computers on different internet connections?
If you know this is
happening, in the short term, just copy your text before you post in the event something
happens and you lose it - then you can just go pack and paste and you've lost nothing. I
thought modern web browsers were pretty good at keeping forms filled in these days even if
you go back... but then I don't use FF, so...

^ . OK, thanks. This one is on IE 8.0.6.001, for what it's worth it went through fine
(n=1, the problem is intermittent on FF, so I don't know that proves anything yet). I'll
try another machine a little later).

Hi alexis, No worries about your double post Yeah, it definitely sounds like a browser issue rather than a forum issue. Some browsers
retain form-filled information whilst others don't. I've experienced exactly this problem
myself in the past and, as desmond helpfully suggests, c&p before you hit submit is the
way to go until you find a browser that works the way you want it to. As it
seems to be a browser-related problem, there's not a *huge* amount we at SOS Towers can do
about it - but we are going to be redeveloping large portions of the website over the
coming months, so this is definitely one to add to the wishlist Sorry I can't be more help, JJ
