Signal Splitter to send Bass guitar signal via 3 signal paths
      #915980 - 24/05/11 07:35 PM
Hi to all,

I want to record a friend’s bass guitar simultaneously via 3 separate signal paths: Path 1 will be the DI track, Path 2 will be via a Bass Pod & Pass 3 will be a miked-up Mark Bass cabinet.

Can anyone advise or recommend a suitable device to take a Bass Guitar (or any guitar for that matter) and split the signal into 3 paths?

Thanks in advance

What model pod will you be using?

You might have all you need already without the need for additional equipment. Have you got a boss tuner pedal or something similar with two outputs?

Depending on what you have already you could do something like this:

Bass into tuner
Output 1 of tuner into amp
DI output from amp (if it has one) + mic on cab
Output 2 of tuner into Pod

Or if you have a DI box with a 'link' output you can place that between the tuner and the amp

If you dont have a pedal with two outputs then get an A/B pedal

Depending on the Pod then you could do this:

Bass into DI
'link' output of DI into Pod and XLR to mixer/interface/pre/whatever
XLR from Pod into mixer
unprocessed output from pod into amp
Mic up the cab

Make sure to phase allign the three signals afterwards in your DAW

Yep Dan, this is exactly how I would achieve this with my Pod XT Pro.
