SOS - How I love this sub forum!! new
      #911030 - 28/04/11 08:18 AM
Eeeee, its good to be back.

I know no one even noticed of cared but I have been off line for a week thanks to a line fault and BT not working bank holidays or weekends.

How I love educated debate (and mindless bickering) with other members re the good old days.

SOS - Never loose this sub forum. Personally, I love it!

I really do Martin.

For someone so into classic synths as myself its essential.

I know sometime the subjects get a little heated (sometimes it me doing the heating) but I just find this place the most friendly and educated.

Somehow we seem to not be bogged down with keyboard warrior types or kids.

And there is a ton of knowledge on here also.

By far the best vintage gear forum on the web IMHO.

Vintage gear is rubbish - software is much better

Just wait until some of the software is old enough to be vintage. Imposcar for example - now in those days they really knew how to write synths

Can anyone see a day when this actually happens? I suppose I am sentimental about old amiga computer games from the early 90s but VSTs?

What do others think?

This is a bit of a generalisation, but by the time software becomes 'vintage', there won't be any computer or platform that can actually run it! 'Vintage' hardware on the other hand still chugs along fine (for the most part) and if not can be repaired (again, for the most part) and it still looks a lot prettier than your average installation CD or DVD

Baward, dont mate. There are people on here who idolise VSTs and think there superb. Ive been here, many times.

I agree, how can you get attached to a DVD with some software on it and often struggle to understand how VSTs even became popular from both an end users point of view as well as a manufacturers with all the pirating that goes on. (Try pirating a Voyager.)

Also, emulation will ensure all old VSTs will work forever more. To re quote my EG I can play any old Amiga game flawlessly on my PC.
