String samples EXS24/Logic/Mac

Anyone got a good recommendation for a good string sample set for Logic? I would need good general orchestra, solo parts for violin/cello/viola and some Beatles style small-room solo stuff to create quartets etc. I don't need a massive amount of control over the sets, just a small selection of good quality sounds to replace the native Logic stuff which is pretty average. Small budget, MacPro, Logic8.

I'm sorry to say that you might find it difficult getting hold of much stuff for EXS24 these days because Kontakt pretty much rules the roost. Even following up some links to EXS libs I found from just a few years ago led to dead ends with the developers now only supporting Kontakt.

I used to create libraries in both Kontakt and EXS24 format but hardly shifted any EXS stuff ... on something like a 50:1 basis or worse. So I gave that up and now only support Kontakt - it just wasn't worth the effort supporting what is essentially a dead format.

Blimey, I can't think of a single half decent string library these days for EXS since VSL stopped supporting them.

If you want quick out of the box sounds then EWQLSO, if you're prepared to mix and work at it, and want far more by way of solo delicacy, then VSL.

They have several EXS libraries available.
