Desperate for help! Changing BPM in Logic 9 new
      #921516 - 20/06/11 08:22 PM
Hi guys, I'm worried this is gonna be a painfully obvious one but how do I change tempo half way through a composition?

I'd really appreciate your help as I've tried everything I can think of!

Have you tried looking at the global tempo track and/or tempo list editor?

The tempo automation line is available in the top left of the arrange window. Part of the Global Tracks section. Sorry I can't give you the precise location (I'm at work away from my Mac). You can control it just like volume etc, though it can be a little imprecise because everything slaved to the tempo has to catch up/slow down.

Yup

And for the details might help to check the manual: Logic Pro 9 User Manual page 79 for Global Tracks and Chapter 18 (page 595) for Tempo stuff. There's a ton of stuff there though.

I use tempo automation a lot to give the song a more natural feel. You might need to ramp up or down so that the transition isn't so obvious. This can be done by dragging the automation nodes as everywhere else.

Prerecorded audio can lead to weird results and problems, so try and avoid recording audio before setting the tempo.
