I've read the old SOS review and the VSE entry. Any recommendation/condemnation of the
synth? I note it is essentially a GM soundbank, with some S&S performances aimed at
the "dance" market, but they are quite cheap these days, it has some hands on control and
some reasonable comments against it. Anything it does really well or badly?

Its pretty crap to be brutally honest. The sounds
are extremely average, the keyboard is cheap (it has almost no sensitivity to velocity)
and the knobs are flimsy. I used to have one in the studio but its now rotting in the
garage where it belongs

Cheers Johnny. I've seen one for a cheap price, but never used one. Hopefully I'll be able
to see what it is like tomorrow. I've seen some videos and there wasn't much that was
standing out, but it seems that the knobs do allow some more expression than the normal
digi synths.

+1 I had one years ago and pretty much
thought the exact same thing, swapped it for a Korg M1 which I then sold for more... M1 is
pony too, other than the keyboard and build quality it's awful

You could always have a go at programming it with some unique 'dance' sounds of your own
surely?

Just how cheap is cheap? AN-1X's on the other hand are amazing VA's
Ensoniq
EPS-16+ make a fantastic keyboard controller (nice feel, after touch and velocity
sensitive)and also boot as an amazing sampler not to mention cheap
The ESQ-1
also great cheap synth that has a good keyboard

It was £60, but I was usurped! My heart is not broken though; it's no big loss, I have
plenty of other stuff!

You know vinyl, I like you
man.
I thought I was the only dude that liked the feel of the 16+.....Clunky
and about 16" from the bed, but I loved it and would still get another just for this
reason (and the fact that I created a mutha 9 gazillion floppy sound library for it). Oh,
and you get a really nice little extra that can make all the difference to your
'sequences'.

Hehe thanks man, she's taken over the S-3200XL and now sampling my Korg Mini700s with it
Was really pleased it came with the ram expansion, would like the ROM and output
expander but meh
