Cubase loop recording problem new
      #922622 - 26/06/11 12:41 PM
I'm losing half my takes!

When I loop a section to record various takes Cubase it often only records half the takes in the correct place. If I pull the waveform back then it shows the missing takes placed in the wrong place on the project page (before the looped section, to the left of a take in the correct place). I'm using 'stacked' mode on the transport.

Any idea how I can solve this problem?

Not a problem that I have encountered so I'm not sure what to do to rectify it, but as a potential aid, which Cubase are using and does it do this everytime you record? It may be worth checking some of the options under the transport section as this can cause some unexpected behaviour, but usually pre-roll or punch in matters.

I take it that it is still recording the audio, but just off setting it to where it should be?

It might be worthwhile re-installing or trashing the preferences, but don't rush to do that as it may be a simpler issue.

I wonder if this might be connected to the old timestamping problem?

Can you give us more information, and maybe a screen print?

In the meantime something here might help:

Thanks guys. I'm away from the PC right now but will fill in all blanks I can recall...

-I'm using Cubase 5, with the latest update.

-Loop recording is the problem. Linear recording places the audio in the correct place.

-I'll need to check if it happens every time, but I think it does. I think starting from somewhere within the loop rather than the left locator may make a difference. I need to check!

-It's audio recording rather than midi that's the problem. I think, I don't record a lot of midi.

-It is still recording the audio and neatly lining it up to the left of where it should be (in the same audio part as another take in the correct place)!

-I'll have a fiddle with the pre-roll and punch in options. I did try changing the recording options in preferences but no joy.

I'm sure this is going to be just one preference/setting that needs changing. Simple...if you know which one.
Thanks again!
