So if you'd paid $3300 USD for something...
      #923621 - 30/06/11 11:58 AM
...which was going to be delivered "at the end of June" and today was last day of June and there'd been no delivery and no email to advise of any delay,
what would you do?

Me, I'd start a "name and shame" thread on here.

I'd be having direct conversations with the supplier...

Are you saying it's not been shipped yet, or not delivered?

Anyway, yes I'd be emailing or calling the vendor.

Yeah, I will have to email them, I guess.

And there'll probably be no reply for a few days,
then some lame "oh sorry yeah it was really mad here the past few days" type answer /sighs/

A friend of mine recently had a multi month tussle trying to import a bass amp from a highly respected American manufacturer. The saga went around in endless circles with the UK agent blaming the shipper, because that was what the manufacturer had told them. Then it had been shipped. Then it was in Italy by mistake, but to be in the UK any day... which it wasn't. Then it was in Germany... which it wasn't. Then Switzerland. In the end he was given his money back because he got fed up waiting and badly needed a new amp for gig commitments (old one making too many pops and crackles). But he was very disappointed having been looking forward to the wonderful new amp for so long.

The real reason turned out to be that the amps are indeed so good and sought after that the manufacturer simply couldn't keep up with the US demand, let alone the rest of the world. Wonderful that such great amps are being built! But four months of pure baloney just because they couldn't be honest with everyone and manage expectations? I'd get on the phone pronto if I were you, and sniff every word carefully for suspicious smells. You never really know which link in the supply chain is failing until you start giving it a good shake.

sadly this is such a niche product that you have to be basically slighly insane to covet one in the first place.

They also didn't take credit cards, so I had to pay by cash 3 months in advance

I'm sure it will work out OK in the end, though

I just wish I was into something less dicey, like class A drugs or something

Ah, there we go:

"my supplier of knobs has suddenly increased the delivery time from 3 to 8 weeks"

Knob suppliers, eh? Dreadful bunch.

end of June has become beginning of August.

I shall say not another word until then
