Having read Hugh's
glowing review of the £4000+ hardware Yardstick, I thought people might be interested in
trying a software version which claims to be sonically identical: at least to impulse
responses taken from an original Yardstick.
It's a Reaktor instrument so it's
not exactly free: you'll need NI Reaktor to make it work.
I've been using it
over the past year or so though, and it is very good at giving a sense of being in a real
(and pleasing) acoustic space - especially on close miked drums.
Don't know
if it matches the real thing though: Hugh?
(EDIT: the newer hardware
Yardsticks are supposedly different and better than the old ones - at least according to
the linked page - the plug-in only models the old version - still sounds good though!).
