Info wanted from MOTU users please new
      #935735 - 21/08/11 07:05 PM
Hello all.

I use a PC3x, Triton and Roland JX8p live.
I want to retire the Triton and JX, and probably get a Tri Extreme and JP8000.

In addition, I want to bring on a Mac Book Pro to run some synth VSTi.

The Mac will sit on top of the rack where my mixer now is, so I was looking at a rack mixer plus soundcard.

HOWEVER, I was reading about the Motu stuff, (Motu Traveller maybe) and am wondering if the mixing capabilites are sufficient for my live use....which would mean soundcard and mixer all in one!

1) I want to control volume of each instrument from the front panel quickly and easily (especially for the Mac, which of course has no volume pot on it!)- so can the pots be assigned to do this?

2) I need to run a stage monitor from one of the outputs, and have a control on the front panel for the volume.

Do oyu know if this is possible?

thanks very much

john

The Motu Cuemix control that gets installed with the drivers will allow you to adjust the volumes of each channel right on the laptop screen, or you can do it from the Motu front panel knobs (twist one knob to select the channel, twist the value knob to change the volume).

Very easy.

I would highly recommend a look at the RME BabyFace. It does everything that you suggest, and has a very extensive feature set for future growth (once you get a grasp on how TotalMix FX works).

I am a long-time MOTU user, but RME is a step up, in my opinion.
