I needed to bring a project back from the dead, and it uses this software, and now I
remember why I stopped using it. It refuses to play the play the first note/chord, I it is
a fault I never could fix.
If I press the note on the midi keyboard, it
triggers the appropriate note/chord in VG, it I go from a standing start, with the note
already recorded into the Cubase midi grid, but when I when I loop, of even copy and paste
the part, it refuses to play.
TO to save me mic'ing up my acoustic guitar,
learning the part an playing, anyone any ideas what the problem might be
I have
tried shortening the notes, so the notes switch off/on on looping but nope simply doesn't
work. I have tried different velocity levels, that makes no difference either, it is only
the first note/chord of the part that won't play

As someone's suggested Rob Papen's RG, can I chime in with a
suggestion to look at a freebie product, Spicy Guitar? Was given away on a coverdisk
recently, can be found through MusicRadar and has saved me hours and hours of f*nnying
about with an electro acoustic and my poor playing of said instrument... doesnt cost a
bean, small software footprint.... nothing to lose by giving it a whirl...
Mind you, I realise it doesnt answer the original question of how you can get the
Steinberg product to work, but there must come a time when you must think its time to stop
spending valuable time on something that doesnt do what you want it to....

Post this on the Steinberg site. Also sounds like you could contact Steinberg support for
this.

Give yourself a pat on the back
bro - just the job that, it seems even better the the software am using anyway, it seems
to recognize more chords and ok we all know virtual guitars can sound a bit naff in
isolation but once eq'd and placed properly in a mix they're good enough for a demo

I seem to remember you had to press the keys just before the beat
- like triggering auto-chords on a Casio. So if you're looping, repeat the trigger note
just before the repeat point. If you want a DIFFERENT chord after you come out of the
loop, better to not loop at all, lay the whole song out in a linear way.

Delighted to be able to help Oneworld. I stumbled on it last year through a er, rival publication, downloaded it off their
website and was very pleased. Another rival publication gave it away on a coverdisk. Used
to be a pay for app, but didnt take off so they made it freeware. I've been badgering them
to do a 12 string one, but dont know if they ever will. And exactly like you
say, once you sit it in the mix, its more than adequate for demo purposes.

It is such a shame that this VSTi is not supported anymore. Even if it is not even sold
anymore it is used in countless new productions even nowadays.
I am really
glad I got my VG2 copy some 5 years ago.
If I were you, I would post some
screenshots of the project, midi editor and plugin GUI. Maybe we could help you better if
you provided these as this is a weird plugin in the way it works so it may be anything
causing the problem.

Just for the sake of it I
did try putting the notes a bit before the beat and yes it does work. I tried to get hold
of VG2 but it's as rare as hen's teeth although Real Guitar is still available.
It's all laziness on my part actually. I do play the guitar but the VG is great for
having a palette of strummed guitars instantly available, as I might write a tune, try and
sing it, find the key is too high and need to transpose, with VG thats easy. Playing the
guitar instead of course means I have to relearn the part and re-record it

I feel you.
I also use VG2
extensively when I create demos, but when I do more "serious" productions or my own stuff
I setup 2-3 microphones and properly record my guitar. But when I make demos for
customers that are *not* so well paid (if paid at all) then VG2 is the tool for the job.

I've never heard of a great guitar sampler.
Can someone give me a link to some audio where I can listen to it? I also play the guitar
but if it's nice it could be very usefull.

I wouldn't call it a great guitar sampler, it is just good in a
limited way - that is standard chords chuggin away. But single notes and any kind of
articulation is non-existent, it's not a guitar sampler as such.
I have both
the Akai Z8 sampler and Gigastudio and have bought various guitar sample sets and non have
been that convincing, you really need to do editing on almost every note to make it sound
realistic.
Yellowtools Independance has a very good Spanish Guitar, that is
very convincing on single notes, but sounds more like a cheap electric piano on chords.
That being said this is a free download and very good
