Tidying up moulded back PA cabs - car trim cleaner? new
      #936730 - 26/08/11 07:17 AM
Hi there,

I'm wondering if I can get a pretty reasonable pair of JBL EON1500's back to 'posh wedding ready' condition by using a car plastic trim restorer. There's only some minor scuffs really.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Don't see why not, but probaly best to try it on a small inconspicuous patch first.

On a related note I recall reading somewhere (Paul White??) that you can remove light scrapes etc on said cabs using a very fine sandpaper. Obviously if you're doing both, the sandpaper comes first. No guarantee as to desirabily or effectiveness of said action given or implied!

I have found Mr Sheen does a good job on plastic puss boxes.

IME, avoid stuff larded with silicone -- it stays slippery for ages!! Damn near broke a wrist when two-manning a cab through a doorway, because we couldn't grip the shell when it started to flip.

First go with kitchen "scrubbies" with a bit of soap like Mother Murphy's. Blue is the lightest & takes off crud. Then green on localised scuffs that remain.

If you need to brighten it further, then judicious dabs of paste wax. Spread it thin, let it matte up, & buff it off. If a spot needs darkening, try wax shoe-polish, again with the buffing.
