I was thinking of going back to an internal card for my audio interface.
I used
to use a M-Audio Delta 66, but moved to a Focusrite Saffire Pro4 because of the perennial
sizzles and crackles problems with Delta drivers. But I have a mountuing suspicion that
Firewire drivers may be responsible for one or two malfunctions I'm having with a couple
of plugins. This may of course be poor/incomplete writing of their VSTs, but nevertheless
internal cards still seem a better idea than Firewire and USB if only in terms of data
transfer speeds and therefore latency.
I have the budget to go to a RME HDSPe
AIO. I know RME have always been highly rated but I wanted to check first if anyone here
was using one of these, trouble free.
I use Sonar X1 and there's a chap
posting on the RME forums about dropouts with Sonar 8.5 and although RME people are giving
lots of help, and he does have UAD and other complexities, he hasn't resolved his problem
yet and this gave me pause for concern.
Thanks,
John
