When to sell
      #942786 - 23/09/11 03:23 PM
I'm gonna sell a practice bassamp I never use (I don't fall foul of Forum Rules so I shan't go into details), but when is the best time to sell?

1) A month or so before Christmas (when people buy presents).

2) Just after Christmas (when kids have money).

3) Any blooming time you numpty, just pop the bugger on Jellybush or Fleabay!

I'm not in a rush and I'd like to get as much dosh as possible. Appreciate the help!

How about the start of a new school year when some students are just starting to take lessons?

James.

I never get too strategic when I sell any gear, I just put it up for sale. Most things musical and second hand have a fairly specific potential buyers pool, and its certainly a question of when there is any spare budget for the buyers. I think people often look around and see something and then take their time to make up their minds to take the plunge. But you can never tell what/when/how your buyer is going to come upon the essential funds. James's suggestion is a good one, so thats like now isn't it? On the other hand I just sold a fairly high end guitar amp which I put up in a guitar shop in July. It took two months over the summer holidays for it to meet its new owner, which you might have thought was the worst possible time, with everyone going on and paying for summer holidays as best as they were able. With one off stuff I don't think you can ever tell. I think the key thing is not so much when but pithing it at the right price.
