Headphone amp / monitoring query
      #944156 - 29/09/11 11:38 PM
Apologies if this is in the wrong place! i was wondering if anyone can shed some light on a little niggle i've been having.. currently have a saffire pro40 and would like to buy a headphone preamp to allow further inputs blah blah.. i was just wondering how this would be connected, would this be by the monitor inputs at the back of the pro 40 and then connected to the appropriate ports of the preamp? also i have some monitors, where would this connect if the above is the case since the inputs will be all used up by the preamp?

please help!

Hey.

that's a little difficult to follow. By inputs, I'm guessing you actually mean outputs. ie monitor outputs / headphones outputs )

A headphone amp will allow you to use more pairs of headphones, but it doesn't change the amout of inputs and outputs you have in any way. you could send a pair of monitor outputs from the pro 40 to a headphone amp, and run 4 headphones off it. Is that what your after?

ahh, apologies, what i meant was to allow more headphone outputs.. though the trouble with my plan is i have a pair of hs50's which would need to be connected, where would this connect if the pro40 has the monitor outputs already in use?

the pro 40 has a few pairs of outputs on the back. It doesn't matter whether they're monitor outputs or whatever else they are called. connect monitors to one pair, and headphone amp to another. just means you have to check your routing in the control panel to make sure your mix ( or whatever you want to hear ) is reaching the appropriate output.
