Speaker decoupling question.
      #947026 - 13/10/11 04:53 PM
Currently, I'm suspending my speakers on wires to decouple them from the desk. I'm wondering if this is actually a good thing.

Would standard decoupling pads work better?

Nothing wrong with suspension per se, it is often done in otherwise difficult situations.

The key is to suspend them in such a way that the speakers can't swing backwards and forwards, and that the suspension cords don't resonate and 'sing'. You may find that isolating the speakers on foam pads above the suspended base plate helps the latter, and angling the suspension strings to remove any possibility of swing helps the former.

Thanks for the quick response. I wonder how much angle is necessary to avoid any back-forth movement. There's probably a formula somewhere.

Probably... in the past I've just made sure that the rear wires angled backwards and outwards. Seemed to do the trick!
