Getting a Gaia new
      #947350 - 15/10/11 10:17 PM
Well the Blofeld has been returned to the shop. In place of it i'm getting a Roland Gaia SH-01 and also an Alesis iO iPad dock at no extra cost (it should be costing me an extra £40, bargain i think). Not bad considering i already got a Monotron from them to appease me for the fact the Blofeld had been out of the box and on display, albeit for only a couple of days.My mother has an iPad and she kindly got the Korg MS 20 app for it, so with the dock and my Gaia as a controller i should have a good array of sounds to play with. I think i'll have to get my own iPad eventually as mother won't let me use hers whenever i want. When i do i'll just fill it with the best music apps i can get, including the MS-20 and iElectribe apps.

Well anyway, i won't get them til tuesday so i'll have a bit of a wait. Until then though i'll play around with the Monotron.

Can i make music? Maybe....

I thought the Blo wouldn't be for you... it's too finickety in too many ways, deff not a all rounder or beginner synth imo The build quality and OS stability are a joke.. but I have one and it fills a nice studio niche if you have other gear that complement it.
I still prefer my old XT sound "quality" wise but I like how you can mix wavetables on the blo which you couldn't do with the XT.

Hi. Yeah i think you're right, i was a bit hasty getting it. I wanted the best sounding synth for the money and that's what led my to buy it. I kind of ignored what i read about the bugs etc and assumed they'd have been sorted by now. But alas we live and learn, and i now will have the synth that sparked my interest anyway. Well i've always been interested, only i've always wanted what i couldn't afford much less need. I will always hanker after a big analogue synth from the likes of Moog or something similar. But until i can afford and more importantly justify owning one, the Gaia will suffice. I will have another virtual synth in the form of the Korg MS-20 app on the iPad and i should have some midi control over it with the Gaia through the Alesis iO dock i'm getting. So at least i've got something to learn with until i can afford the big toys.

Saw that this morning before i left for work. I phoned my mother and told her to get it for me. Just hope i can get my own iPad before the price increase. Not had a go of it yet but there's plenty of time for that.
