When I get a new SoS I tend to gravitate to those lovely things I cannot afford and so was
much enjoying the review of the Beez Neez microphone when I was stopped short in my
salivating..Bloody TOOL steel!?
Now, I am prepared to eat humble pie for a year
if the makers can come up with a valid reason but I can think of none that justifies the
use of such a useful alloy for a microphone body? Mild steel would surely afford just as
good magnetic shielding (in anycase it ain't cheap, wrap the traff in mumetal tape)and if
they wanted a hard, abrasion resistant surface, case harden it.
In any case
saying "tool steel" is a bit like saying guitars are made of "wood" there are dozens of
different TS compositions all having their proper applications, not one of which I suggest
would be a tooob for a microphone!
