switching off acpi compliant control method battery driver OK?

Hi all, is it ok to disable the "microsoft acpi compliant control method battery"? It seems to be the cause of latency spikes in my HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. I see it makes the battery desktop gadget jump to 255% but any other consequences I should be wary of? will it overcharge the battery or anything like that?

Hi Sham,

I have 2 Lenovo T60 laptops (XP Pro) which I use with RME Multiface II I/O. I have the "acpi compliant control method battery" set to disabled.

You will lose the OS battery indicator and any OS low battery warnings you've established...the laptop while run the battery dry. With the T60, there is an orange hardware low battery warning which still functions irrespective of the "acpi compliant control method battery" setting. I keep an eye on that if I'm running off of the battery.

The T60 has excellent DPC latency behaviour...but having the "acpi compliant control method battery" disabled makes the numbers even better.

that's great thanks I was just a little concerned about frying the battery or overheating ..something like that. Yes the acpi compliant control etc. is the only thing that causes spikes in my HP dv7 3115. Now for a solid USB sound card and i'm set to go!
