Thanks for the Reason 6 review this month (Nov 2011.) Very informative and enjoyable.

I am shocked however that no mention was made re the lack of MIDI out (that I could find, if it was my apologies.) If, not it should have been on the first second and third line of the cons section as this is the only thing holding me and many others back from actually buying Reason 6.

A MIDI Out is 'the' most sought after feature on Reason, and no doubt why Record failed in the first place. (How I would have loved to have hooked my hardware synths up to Record - sigh!)
But don't take my word for it, the demand for a MIDI Out is all over the music tech forums of the net globally. There is even a 96% for - 4% against poll for a MIDI out on the Propellerheads web site showing the unanimous demand so its not like I am alone in this desire or that Propellerheads are not aware.

My £400 for Reason is in my hand and ready to go as soon as they add a MIDI out. But I doubt that day will ever come. It would be nice if the Propellerheads would at least make an official statement as to why they refuse to acknowledge the huge demand for this, even in version 6.

I've not even read the entire thing yet, so it may be mentioned elsewhere in the article also.

I too wished it had Midi out. And hopefully they won't ignore all the requests for it. But actually, it isn't the huge let down it might seem. ReWire works good, plus you can export parts as midi files also.
I still like Reason 6 quite a lot regardless..

I very much doubt they will implement MIDI out now. I mean its reason 6 not reason 2. I think they would have done it long ago if they were going to but its so frustrating. As is the lack of an official response as to why they choose to ignore the sheer masses.

I have never looking into re wire. Though may give it a try. I can get Reason 6 for £240 what has to be bargain of the century. Still id be willing to give it a whirl. How well does Reason 6 work rewired to Ableton Live 8? Is it hard to do?

one of the great things the props did was rewire
rewire works fairly seamlessly on anything i've used - including cubase on pc, logic and ableton on mac
it's really good actually - and you don't have to "record" - you can just 'reason'

(always had issues with record - why not use a daw that allows 3rd party plugins?? and the best bits of reason (which is the ease of use/synth structures etc - i think you get better results with rewire IMHO)

I've never used Ableton.. But ReWire has certainly worked well for me with Logic.

Thanks. Ill look into rewire and see how it works with the demo version or Reason 6.

But still, Rewire or not there is no excuse for no MIDI out. Anyone think of another DAW without MIDI out?
