HELP! new

hello all im new to the fourm and wonted to ask a few questions basicly
iv had small studio set ups such as home recoreding studios
but recently iv run in to some oney and wont to scrap my old set up and star again
i got 6500 -7000 to play with any ideas
im deffo going with the u87
-pre amp neve-1073 or avolon 737sp :s
-ad/da converter dont know what to get
-monitors genelecs and -ns10s im thinkin
what else do i need ?

Hi Jason

Welcome to the forums.

You're likely to find mint condition 87s for sale so save a few pennies there.

The 1073 DPA is a good mic amp. Again look used as they're pretty bombproof. The Avalon has a good mic amp but the rest of the box is fairly grim. The faceplate is the best bit tbh.

From your gear choices I suspect you're doing R n B, urban etc? If so a used distressor is another reliable bit of gear that would suit you well.

You can find used NS10s (they don't make them any more as you may know). I'd be worried that if parts become discontinued you might be stuck. You need a very good amp with plenty of juice with NS10s. So you'd need to budget a few hundred quid for that at least. I'd consider Acoustic Energy AE22s with a sub as an alternative. Similar idea. Up to date.

Budget for acoustic treatment...very very important. Crucial.
