Same problem here. Fresh install of everything 32 bit. C6 and Reason 6. So far the updates on C6 have not helped. After launching Cubase, then Reason, Reason wants to operate as stand-alone. They both try to take over the i/o driver and it's glitch city. Need to reboot just to use one or the other.

Nothing on the cubase forum has hepled as of yet. Fortunately, I waited until I had made my deadline on my last post-production project.

Now I'm dead as far as rewire is concerned.

Rick

Hey semajjames, I'm glad you found that. I have called and emailed tech support at both places and told them that I didn't find a rewire.dll in the folder. And asked if it was downloadable since the documentation states there is rewire 1 and 2.

Of course, I really didn't expect a reply. I fear I'm turning into a conspiracy theorist over this.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try.

Rick

Anywho, this is my guess... The upgrade versions of Reason 6 and Cubase 6 do not have the Rewire.dll included. Apparently they figure you've got it on your system already.

So, because I wanted a clean install, I did a fresh install of Vista followed by a C6 upgrade and Reason 6 upgrade. Hence, no Rewire. How much trouble would it have been to put Rewire on the blame disk!!

A search on Propellerhead's site using "rewire" yielded no results! And I didn't find it under downloads. But I found this link: http://www.propellerheads.se/download/index.cfm?fuseaction=get_article& ;article=vista_installer and installed it.

Now I've caught up to you semajjames!

Thanks for the idea. I should have called you first!!

Rick

BTW, I'm using Intel quad with TI chipset running M-audio profire610.

I believe ReWire only works under 32bit and since you can't run it, I can only assume you have installed the 64bit version? I have tried this work around for a friend's PC and running ReWire works great with Cubase 5. Hope it helps...

Using Reason with ReWire on a 64-bit operating system

"If you are running a 64-bit OS, Reason will automatically install and run in 64-bit mode. However, if you are using
ReWire, there are a couple of extra considerations:
* Both the ReWire host and Reason must run in the same mode (32-bit or 64-bit).
* To use ReWire in 64-bit mode, the ReWire host application must have support for 64-bit ReWire. If not, you
need to run both programs in 32-bit mode.

Here's how you run Reason in 32-bit mode under Mac and Windows, respectively:

Mac
1. Make sure Reason isn't running.
2. Select the Reason application in the Finder and choose "Get Info" from the File menu.
3. Turn on the option "Open in 32-bit Mode".
The next time you launch Reason it will run in 32-bit mode.

Windows
Under Windows, you need to install a separate 32-bit version of Reason:

1. Open the Reason DVD (or the Reason download package, if you have downloaded the program from the web)
in the Windows Explorer.

2. Right-click the "Install Reason.exe" file and select "Create Shortcut".
If the file is on the DVD, you will be asked if you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop - click Yes.

3. Locate the shortcut you just created, right-click it and select "Properties".

4. On the "Shortcut" page of the Properties dialog, locate the Target field and add " /32" (without the quotes) at
the very end. The Target field should say
"D:\Install Reason.exe" /32
(although the drive letter may not be "D", depending on your setup).

5. Click OK.

6. Double click the shortcut file to install a 32-bit version of Reason.
The installed Reason version will have the name "Reason (32)" on the Start menu and desktop. You can have the
regular 64-bit version installed at the same time if you like. "
