Hey guys, looking for a new reverb pedal, i have a marshall reflector that im using just
now but looking for something a bit better..(was also using in built amp reverb but my new
Marshall JMP2 doesnt have any)..... Looking for something that will do all kinds of music
from blues to heavy rock (might use it with my acoustic too) ...very clean to very dirty
without altering the tone of the guitar too much.
Ive been looking at the TREX
tonebug reverb or the Malekko spring chicken(which they dont make any more but ive seen a
couple on ebay)but am looking for any suggestions/opinions/reviews into these or any
others.
So basically something simple like the spring chicken and transparent
as far as tone goes but that will sound good with various styles.
Thanks in
advance Stephen

I recently purchased a TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb pedal with the downloadable tone
print feature. It is VERY natural sounding and has essentially replaced my "highly rated"
Tech 21 Boost RVB. Might want to give it a listen.

I really like my Boss FRV-1
However, I was specifically looking for the Fender reverb sound to be used
with my JCM 800.

Better still, buy the
real thing, although it is rather pricey.

I reviewed the Demeter RVB1 pedal for the December issue of SOS — it's an actual spring
pedal! Rather nice it is too, but also quite expensive.
Cheers!

Hey guys, cheers for the replies, i had looked at the frv1 and it sounds good but wasn't
sure if it had enough diversity but ill keep it in mind anyway...
im sure i
read something about the holy grail being pretty noisy? ive never seen anyone using one so
i don't know how true this is... do you have any information on this?
the
hall of fame looks good looks like its got loads of features in it...
jst
took a look at the Demeter RVB1 looks pretty good too, gonna look more into it!
Im building my own pedal board....gonna get myself a gigrig pro 14 (or an
octaswitch...anybody know how good these things are?) so looking for good pedals that are
going to compliment each other well.. dunno if you guys have any other must have pedals
that you think i should take a look into.... looking for a bit of everything like i said
before...kind of a once in a lifetime chance to get the pedals i want (obviously price is
a factor) but im wanting one pedal board i can use for all my gigs(i have 3 just now and
its too much hassle) so any other ideas you got
(distortions/overdrives/reverb/trems/delays, etc , etc.)
give me your ideas and ill
take a look.... also power supplies, accessories ,etc... help me make an awesome pedal
board!
Cheers for all your help again

+1 on the TC, anything TC actually. If you're not adverse to rack, there are some great
deals on secondhand rack reverbs, TC, Yamaha, Roland that can do a lot better than most
pedals. I had the Holy Grail but it was an awfully digital sounding pedal, to
me at least. My first suggestion would be the TC Nova Reverb if I am going the pedal
route. I might go with the Nova system or G-System overall if I need more fx.

I wasn't going to post in this thread because I had nothing to offer. I haven't been in
the market for a reverb pedal. No need I thought, my amp has a full sized spring tank
(which I love). However, I am in the process of having a new pedal board put together and
yesterday dumped my pedal collection on the guy who's building it for me. "That's it" I
said "everything I will ever need except a Redwitch Moonphaser (on order but yet to
materialise)". "Er... you might want to try this" he said, handing me a Strymon Blue Sky
Reverb I couldn't believe it. Personally I'm not bothered about the spring
voicings, obviously, although they are great too, but there is so much more. It's gone
straight on the board!

Yeah the Strymon is the one at the moment unless you want to go with a rack. The problem
with almost all reverb pedals is that the conversion imparts a slightly pingy quality to
the sound which was what put me off the eventide and the tc nova. The racks are rather
better in that respect but inconvenient. The Strymon stuff sounds frankly amazing for what
it is. The El Capistan pedal is also worth a look. J

My thoughts on verb is that it gets lost in the mix, especially when you play decent sized
venues. I prefer delay for stage work and have abstained from using reverb, unless I've
done a two amp settings, one dry and one effected.
